Chapter Three:

By the time Lucy had arrived at the East Forest it was already late and getting dark. “Why did Natus have to be such a jerk?” Lucy mumbled to herself, as she walked through the forest, “and how do you find a shadow monster in a large shadowy forest?”

“You alright there little lady?” a male voice asked, causing the blonde to look behind her seeing a slender brunette man behind “Relax, I’m not here to hurt you”

“Who are you?” Lucy asked cautiously taking a step backward

“My name’s Ethan, I live near here with my girlfriend” Ethan smiled, “I’m on my way home to her. You are?”

“Lucy”

“Pretty name, you here to slay the beast?”

“How’d you know?”

“You have Fairy Tail guild mark on your hand and the last mage who came here was attempting the same mission”

“I take it that they didn’t succeed?” Lucy enquired, as she started lowering her guard around the brunette

“No, unfortunately the girl was severely injured” Ethan sighed “I patched her up as good as I could and she went back home”

“That was good of you”

“I couldn’t let her die now could I?”

“I guess so”

“Listen, let me take you back to my place” Ethan said, causing the celestial mage to look at him shocked, “I’ve seen what the beast can do at night, I can’t let you be in that much danger”

“Thank you” Lucy smiled, following the man, “do you know anything about the girl who took this mission previously?”

“She was angry at her boyfriend, kept muttering insults about him. She was sweet and loving, she deserved someone who would treat her like the princess she was, and she didn’t belong with that thug.” Ethan ranted “she needed someone who would always protect her and not let any harm to her, not like that ‘Laxus’”

“What?!” Lucy gasped, taking several steps away from the man who had started falling into madness. “The girl was (Name)?”

“Obviously, and she’s so lonely, she needs company” Ethan smiled darkly as he cast a sleep spell on the blonde and carrying her to a large stone castle hidden with illusion magic “I have to make my princess happy”

“Why trains?” Natsu moaned as lay sprawled out on the seat, this caused Erza and Gray to glare at him, having already dragged him onto the transportation device after discovering what mission the blonde had taken.

“It is a faster route to the East Forest” Erza spoke

“And it’s your fault she took this mission” Gray snapped, resisting the urge to encase the dragon slayer in a ball of ice “the same mission that (Name) disappeared on”

“WE HAVE TO FIND HER THEN” Natsu shouted, bolting upright before curling pathetically into a ball “before she disappears like (Name) did” he whispered to himself.
