"You must hate me for doing this" Ace sighed, knowing that his fiancee had not wanted him to go and seek revenge on Teach after what he had done.

"I could never hate you Freckles" (Name) whispered from her spot behind the man she loved. "Teach killed members of our crew, he betrayed you, he betrayed us and he betrayed Pops. I just don't want you to get killed on this vendetta of yours"

"Teach was my responsibility, he was a member of my division. I should have seen it coming, I should have known, I should have ..."

"There was nothing anyone could have done that could have changed the outcome. You cannot dwell on the past forever"

Ace fell into silence as he stared at the sky he had spent watching with (Name) on the Moby Dick. He finally had the chance to take down Blackbeard once and for all, as the traitorous pirate had been spotted in the next town over. Pulling a necklace out of his shorts pocket, the pirate ran his thumb over the chain, upon noticing the sudden silence coming from her fiancee (eye colour) eyes peered over his shoulder so that she could see what had captured his attention so fully. As her gaze fell upon the necklace that he had given her, the necklace that had her engagement ring hanging on the chain, the look in her eyes softened as she shuffled slightly closer to him.

"I can't believe you listened to me" she whispered

"You said I should keep it with me sod that I never forgot what I need to protect"

"It's to tell you to come back to your family safe you idiot, and not to go and get yourself killed"

Fiddling with the golden band that symbolised his desire to spend the rest of his life with the only female doctor on Whitebeards crew. As he played with the band, (Name) kept watching him, noting the look of sadness in his eyes before he fell asleep on the roof instead of the room he had inside.

"Stupid" the doctor whispered as she leant forward and kiss his forehead "I really wish you'd listen to Pops and drop this. You need to stay alive and not throw your life away"

(Name) knew that there was no way that she would ever be able to talk Ace out of fighting Blackbeard, he was almost as stubborn as Pops and motivated beyond belief. The next morning, her fiancee had left and gone to chase down his most successful lead on the battle and the (hair colour) woman knew where he was and what he was doing.

The tell tale signs of fire bursting from the next village over, confirmed her ideas of where her fiancee was at the moment. When the flames disappeared and a large black vortex took there place before nothing else was seen and the stab of pain that went through her chest made the doctor aware of the outcome of the match. Portgas D. Ace had lost to Marshall D. Teach.
