Chapter Ten: The Royal Family

 Natsu by KayLeeTheDreamer

The kingdom of Magnolia had blossomed under the rule of King Makarov Dreyar for over fifty years, before he stood down and allowed his grandson Laxus to claim the throne. There had been doubts about whether the young blonde would be able to live up to his father’s legacy, those doubts turned out to be unwarranted.  With the King’s marriage to a young village girl from the neighbouring kingdom, the country had a wonderful, loving and insightful queen in Anna Dreyar.

“Your Majesties, congratulations” Porlyuscia, the Royal Physician, told the royal couple “Her Majesty is with child”

“I’m, I’m pregnant?” Anna asked as her hands went down to rest on her lap, over where her unborn child was growing, before casting a glance back to the healer “Are you sure?”

“You aren’t doubting my diagnosis are you your Majesty”

“Not at all. I’m just … shocked”

“Congratulations”

Once the elder woman left the room, the queen looked over at her husband who was slack jawed with his eyes wide open. Waving her hand in front of his face in an attempt to get his attention, an action that didn’t have much of an effect on the blonde King.

“Baby. Your Pregnant. Pregnant. Child. Baby” Laxus rambled under if breath as he tried to come to terms with the news about what was coming into their life. Seeing what he was doing Anna couldn’t help but giggle at how cute her husband was acting. The laughter coming from his wife caused the blonde to spin to face the blue eyed woman, “You’re pregnant”

“I am” she giggled as the scarred man who had moved so that he was in front of her. Placing his hands on her cheeks, the royal pressed a kiss onto his wife’s lips as a smile graced her face.

“We are going to be parents”

“We are”

“I love you so much”

The day that he found out that Anna was one of the happiest moments of Laxus’ life, however it immediately followed by the crippling fear that he would lose both his wife and child in one fell swoop. Anna had fallen ill soon after the news of her pregnancy, and none of the doctors were able to find out what was wrong with her, or how to make her better.

“The damn flower the old man talked about” Laxus ground out as he leant over his desk staring at all the medical files and information that had been nothing but dead ends.

“Your Majesties, it’s a legend” Freed tried to reason with his king, before he was met with a dark glare.

“And my wife is dying! We have used all the proper medicine and healing that can occur normally. If a legend can save her, it is worth the chance”

“We will go search for the flower immediately Your Majesty”

Returning to his wife’s side Laxus couldn’t help but notice how small and frail Anna looked, none of the previous light and life that normally radiated off her could be seen. Taking her hand into his larger one, the blonde king couldn’t help the fear that was creeping into his mind, if things kept getting worse he would lose his wife and unborn child in one go.

“Don’t be sad Lax. It will work out in the end” Anna’s voice weakly spoke, causing him to tighten his hold on his wife’s hand.

“I can’t lose you Anna, you are my light”

It took a week before anyone heard back from the Royal Army and thankfully they came back with the legendary flower.

“Get it to Porlyuscia. Now!” Laxus ordered when he saw the glowing golden flower in the hands of his most trusted personal guard, Freed.

“As you wish Your Majesty” With the green haired man sprinting off through the hallways, rushing back to his wife’s side Laxus allowed a small smile to grace his face, there was a chance that Anna could get better.

The concoction that the terrifying medical woman created had a golden glow just like the flower had, giving it an almost magical quality. While he sat next to the brunette woman as he assisted her in consuming the medicine that would hopefully save her life. “Come on love” he whispered once the entire liquid had been drunk by his wife, a faint golden glow covering her body as it happened.

“I should warn you that this is a legend, there is no scientific proof that it will work” the healer told her king, who kept is hand wrapped around the pregnant queen. “Time will tell if it works”

After the birth of Princess (Name) and the full recovery of Queen Anna, the kingdom went into a state of joyous celebration and no one was happier than Laxus, his wife and child were alive and well.

“Laxus it’s too big” Anna giggled as she watched her husband try and place the tiara on the gurgling baby in her arms.

“It is not” the king argued once the tiara was placed onto his child’s head only to slip down so that it covered big (eye colour) eyes.

“See, too big”

“She’s happy what’s the harm?”

“You are too stubborn sometimes”

“How about I take it off for the ceremony? Would that make you happy?”

“When she grows into it she can wear it, is that a fair compromise?”

“I guess” Laxus sighed once he took the tiara off of his daughter’s head and back to its rightful place. Looking at his wife who was holding his daughter brought a smile to the king’s face as his family was complete.

“Laxus, Anna” former King Makarov spoke as he came into the room, watching his grandson, granddaughter-in-law and great granddaughter share a family moment. “It’s time for the celebration”

“Were coming old man, calm down before you break a hip or something”

“Impudent brat”

……….

As the citizens of Magnolia waited in the courtyard for the royal family to come out and release the lantern as a celebration for the birth of the princess and the miraculous recovery of Queen Anna. Once they arrived on the castle balcony, the queen holding the princess stood next to her husband who started to light the lantern before they both pushed it up into the air. Following the release of the royal lantern, the rest of the citizens launched their own lanterns into the sky in honour of the two female royals.

Adjusting (Name) in her arms, Anna moved the child so that she had a better view of all the golden lanterns flying into the sky.

“She likes them” Laxus observed, seeing how happy his daughter was as she gurgled in his wife’s arms.

“She really does”

“Well she is our perfect princess” Leaning down so he could press his forehead against his queen’s and allow his daughter to play with his finger.

………..

That night someone broke into the castle, more specifically the bedroom of the royal couple. That person, stalked over to the bassinet that the princess was sleeping and using his finger held up a lock of gold hair.

“Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine” the man smirked as he saw that the hair was physically glowing. Using the scissors that he had brought with him Hades cut a piece of hair only for the strands to turn back to (hair colour) and returning back to his original age. Realising that the only way that he was going to continue using the magic flower’s power was if he took the child with him.

Hearing a noise come from inside the room, Anna and Laxus stirred awake before they saw the hooded man climbing over the balcony whilst holding their sleeping daughter.

“(NAME)!” Anna shouted as she clambored out of the bed and ran onto the balcony as the man started to escape. Her fingers clutching the railing so tight that her knuckles started to turn white.

“GUARDS!!” Laxus’ voice boomed before several members of the royal army and his personal guards ran into the room. “An intruder kidnapped (Name). Find her. NOW!”

“She’s gone” Anna whispered as she collapsed on the floor when the guards came back with the information that they had been unable to find the man who kidnapped their princess. “No”

“We will keep sending guards until we find her” Makarov told his grandson and granddaughter-in-law. “We will do everything we can do find her. She can’t have gone too far”

Laxus didn’t say anything, just slumped down next to his wife and wrapping his arms around before burying his head into her shoulder, not willing to let his guards, wife or grandfather see his tears.

Present Day.

Another year, Laxus thought as he stared out of the window blankly. Another year since (Name) had gone missing, another year that he and Anna had to live with the idea that they may never get their daughter back. During those eighteen years the two had held hope that one day their child would see the lanterns which would hopefully guide her back home.

Anna was currently sat down reading one of her books, while Laxus remained staring out the window until the doors were pushed open with great force so that the doors slammed against the wall. Both royals looked up to see an out of breath Freed standing in the doorway before he looked up and said the words that they had wanted to heat ever since their daughter was missing, “She’s back”

The response to those two words, caused the couple to slowly stand up and walk stiffly through the doorway before running down the halls, with Anna picking up the hem of her skirt after stumbling as she ran. Coming to a stop right before they came to the door, looking at each other they reached out and held each other’s hand, and couldn’t help overhear the words spoken between a man and a woman.

“What if they don’t –”

“They’ll love you, how could they not?”

“I’m scared Natsu”

“Don’t be (Name), it will work out in the end”

“Natsu”

“(Name)”

Hearing the door open caused the (Name) and Natsu to turn around and face the two royals. As Anna and Laxus came outside and saw the two people, one they instantly recognised as the Salamander, the man who had stolen their daughters crown, the other was a young woman with (hair length, hair colour) hair and the same eyes as Anna.

It was surprisingly Anna who took the first step forward after she let go of her husband’s hand. Walking in front of her daughter who at this moment was terrified, reaching out cautiously the queen placed her hand on her daughter’s cheek and let out a choked sob before wrapping her arms around the child she thought had been lost all those years ago. Laxus made his way behind his wife, where he saw (Name)’s big bright eyes staring up at him, the blonde wrapped his arm around the two woman before the family ended up in a group hug kneeling on the ground.

Natsu couldn’t help but smile at the scene in front of him, when the queen held a hand out to him, he took it expecting her to shake it or something to that extend, he had not however expected for her to drag him down to the group hug. After all, the family was once again back together thanks to the thief.

……..

Ok, so not two hours ... 20 minutes. Most of the chapter was finished, I just needed to add in one other scene and now its done.

Not to sure when the epilogue will be up, I'll try and get it up when I can.
